Our Mission

The Dr. E. Murakami Centre for Lyme Research, Education and Assistance was founded by Dr. E. K. Murakami and operates as a not-for-profit Corporation. We hold charitable status as registered with the Canadian Government, thereby allowing us to issue charitable tax receipts.

Dr. Murakami's passion for providing effective and life-saving treatment plans to victims of Lyme disease has been the core of the Centre's existance. His unending devotion to the wellness of all sufferers and his passion for bringing truth and justice to Canadians alike are the driving force behind the inception of the Centre.

Our mission is simple. To provide unbiased, double blind, peer reviewed facts on Lyme and Co-Infections to those who need to know; doctors and patients alike. To educate the people in the Medical Community on research findings and facts surrounding Lyme and its co-infections. To offer support to sufferers and families of Lyme patients on an on-going basis, and most importantly, to work with governing bodies and assist in making permanent changes to our existing protocols for the diagnosis and treatment plans for Lyme in Canada. Dr. Murakami would like this to be his lasting legacy; an organization that will continue the fight in his name, and funded by his efforts. The Society thanks you, on his behalf, for your support and belief in his efforts and his fight for Lyme in Canada.

Lyme Journals Now Available!

Take Part in A Research Project!

We have developed an attractive 150 page coil bound journal for Lyme fighters!

This book is 8.5" X 11" offering easy writing space on lined paper. Each page contains the Society logo, contact info and words of hope from Dr. Murakami.

This journal is available by donations. Due to tax laws, we will be unable to issue receipts for this journal.

The idea behind this journal is to have Lyme patients fill them out, recording their Lyme journey as they go. When full, the journal can be submitted to Dr. Murakami to extrapolate information for research purposes. The journal will then be returned to you to keep.

We require a minimum amount of $20 to cover the cost of the book and shipping. Therefore Charitable tax receipts will not be issued for this amount.

  Membership Based

Helping Hands imageWe rely on Membership to advance our funding for further educational seminars and lectures, unbiased research studies and ongoing fundraising for our Lyme Assistance program. Our members include professionals and lay-persons. Every dollar of membership dues helps fund our research, education and assistance programs for Lyme disease and co-infections.

The Centre exists on the valuable time and effort of many volunteers. Many of these volunteers are Lyme victims who feel compelled to make a difference. Others are members who are interested in the challenges that we face within our healthcare system, and offer up their help. Others yet, are family members of Lyme sufferers and understand all too well the importance of what we do.

Together we make up the fibre of the existence of the Society, and all that we stand for. These efforts won't stop until necessary changes are made.

  Benefits of Membership

Our members can rest easy knowing their donated dollars are going to full, unbiased research programs, educational lectures and towards our Assistance program. Our research is conducted by third party groups with no associations that would render their work biased. These individuals and labs have been carefully selected to guarantee such results to our work.

Educational seminars are conducted in person by Dr. E. Murakami and are hosted at various Universities, Colleges and Conference halls across the country. These seminars can be booked by reaching us in the Contact section of our site.

Our one-of-a-kind Assistance Program is a form of monetary relief for Lyme victims who are forced to seek treatment out of Canada. The funding is offered au gratis and is done on an application review basis. As we grow, we hope to be able to offer this program ongoing.

Monthly e-newsletters are published as well and will keep our members up-to-date with all the news within the Centre. Annual general meetings are held in January every year, allowing our valued members to partake and vote regarding important issues.
